Missions

Missions reaches out to people through programs and work that allow us to be the hands and feet of Jesus.  We share the good news of Jesus and provide direct aide to human suffering and need.  Mission programs are available for a wide range of interests, for teams, individuals, and the entire congregation to participate.

Harley's Helpers Ministry helps seriously ill children and families that have been stricken with childhood cancer.  Through donations, Harley's Helpers will provide meal tickets, parking tokens, gas cards, emotional support, gifts (Prayer Shawls, Hats and Companion Bracelets, etc.) and parties for the children as funds allow.  Harley's Helpers Ministry will spread Harley's spirit, love of life and happiness to seriously ill children and bring sunshine into their cloudy days.  This ministry is so very important because of the influx of childhood cancers we are seeing in our community. When this happens, families are isolated and totally devastated financially and emotionally and know no one to turn to. Harley's Helpers can help.  Contact Dana Ruppert for more information on Harley's Helpers or to inquire about donations  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Daybreak Place     A ministry for Senior Adults with Long Term Care Needs. FUMC in conjunction with Interfaith Care Partners, invite senior adults with special care needs to a monthly gathering where they will be entertained, engaged and involved. If you know of someone or if you are a caregiver of someone with special needs, we invite you to participate in this ministry.  The seniors / care partners will be offered a time of fun and fellowship.

Daybreak includes music including singing traditional hymns or popular music from the past. There will be familiar table games such as regular bingo or musical bingo. A special time is set aside for sharing current events or memories of the past. Arts and crafts will involve the person with stimulating activity. Lunch will be served on tables decorated with the theme of the day.  Stimulating conversation at lunch, activities and entertainment, will engage the care partners with others.

The caregivers are welcome to stay or may leave and return at closing. This will be a time of welcomed rest and respite from their day to day responsibilities.  The next Daybreak Place will be on Tuesday, September 7, 9:30am - 2:00pm, in the Family Life Center.  Call Monica with Interfaith for a needs assessment (713) 682 5995.  Volunteers who can give a "bite size" committment of 3-4 hours per month are also needed.  If you have a special talent or gift that you can share, please call Judy (281) 391-2527.    Donations are appreciated; checks payable to FUMC with Daybreak Place in the memo.

Katy Christian Ministries
This ministry began in our church basement. As partners with KCM, we join with other churches in our area to reach out to the people in our local community.  We collect food for the Food Pantry each month as well as donations for special events. We also participate in some of these programs: Apple Tree - providing school supplies for children and needy families locally.  Santa's Sleigh - providing gifts for the children of families that qualify for assistance.  Christian Neighbor Program - helping people in the Katy community with minor home repairs and assistance.  Advent Special Offerings - Every Sunday during Advent the church takes up a collection of various items to benefit local services and programs.

Adopt-A-Highway
